![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A successful remake for the fans of the seriesĪs funny as it may seem and actually be, Chicken Invaders 2 for Windows 8 is not an easy game, that’s for sure. The animations are as hilarious as ever and the explosions are always accompanied by feathers and eggshells, which is funny. Visually, there are no major differences from the regular version. Whether it’s powerful laser rays or heat-seeking missiles, a bit of additional power never hurt anyone, metaphorically speaking.įrom a technical point of view, the biggest change is obviously the fact that this version runs on the latest Windows versions, since it can be installed directly from the store. In this regard, you can make use of the power-ups dropped by the chicken carcasses, which provide you with exciting new firing modes. Plenty of power-ups to modify your weaponsīecause the waves get faster and more aggressive while the chickens get stronger, you need a bit of help when it comes to firepower. Just like in the original, a few bosses await you every couple of waves, and they require more concentration to destroy. Naturally, every now and again a random wave of rogue chickens will appear, which might force you to act impulsively and just deal with the situation as it comes along. Gameplay-wise, your goal is to destroy every enemy unit that slowly descends upon you, usually in a fixed formation. Other than that, the core concept is the same and you should feel right at home. The goal is the same in this release as it was in the first one, except that you now have more weapons, better power-ups, and a lot more chickens to deal with. Repel wave after wave of vicious chickensĬhicken Invaders 2 for Windows 8 is the sequel to the hugely successful arcade shooter in the style of Space Invaders, featuring cunning chickens instead of alien spaceships. However, a giant chicken invasion is a fear many did not know they had. Video games do a good job of amplifying our fears on a variety of subjects, such as zombies, ghosts, or regular people who might boost your car in broad daylight because they are too lazy to walk. However, the gameplay can be quite addictive, making this free title worth the shot.Although humanity seems to have reached an equilibrium in regards to the issue of whether chickens are delicious or not, things are not completely black and white yet. Also, your skills can't significantly improve over its course. The ten waves grow stronger but don't change much. The only real issue with this game is its repetitive nature. Sometimes addictive, sometimes repetitive The soundtrack can get repetitive, but in its core, it adds to the gameplay. While the visuals are far from cutting-edge, they are quite creative and add a lighthearted effect to the game. The game doesn't let you change any of these. You use arrow keys to move, shift to fire, and control to shoot missiles. Just as the gameplay, the controls are simple to grasp. You'll have to take it out and begin again, but with even more challenging opponents. The whole sequence repeats itself ten times before you face the boss encounter: a single, massive chicken. The only way to upgrade in this game is through power-ups, so you can change or upgrade your weapon, at least before you lose your next life. When you kill them, they drop a drumstick, which you can collect for power-ups and points. If they hit you with an egg, you lose a life. You can only move your spaceship right and left, and the enemies take up the upper half of your screen. This game takes a simple approach to the gameplay, mimicking vertical arcade shooters such as Turbo Forge and Space Bomber, but with even less flexibility. ![]()
